Justice was served up on Tuesday night as a 3-0 defeat for the Canaries meant the Norwich v Newcastle fixture stays on the original date.
Norwich had asked the Premier League for permission to move the match with Newcastle back 24 hours if they’d progressed into the fourth round of the FA Cup at Craven Cottage.
Travelling to Norwich is tricky enough anyway, doing it midweek even worse, changing the date only 2 weeks before is surely totally unacceptable.
Even ignoring the problems for fans (which the authorities seem to find quite easy to do…), surely if two clubs disagree then to me you have to keep the status quo unless there is some overwhelming reason and I don’t see how grabbing extra FA Cup TV money equates to that.
Plus the Canaries would no doubt have played a much weakened team if they got through – they even made six changes last night against Fulham.
