Second day of the January transfer window sees reports of Remy Cabella on his way to Newcastle United.
It is claimed that Cabella’s club Montpellier are in talks with United over a transfer window move.
The 23 year old creative midfielder/winger has previously been linked with Manchester United and a fee of £14m mooted by the Montpellier President Louis Nicollin, but the finances of the French club mean a deal at a lower price could be concluded.
Cabella has scored 6 goals so far this season and has the ability to go past his man which is something Newcastle badly miss, apart from on the occasions when Ben Arfa gets a game and is on form.
The midfielder was part of the team captained by Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa that lifted the French league title in 2011/12 and has featured for the French Under 21 team.
Montpellier are having a desperate season and have won only two of their league matches, leaving them one place above the relegation spots.
Cabella is the club’s biggest asset and is top scorer even though he plays midfield/wing but the financial situation dictates they may have to cash in quickly. Amongst others, the Mail have covered the transfer story.
