The French players of Newcastle United have overtaken Chelsea and now they are aiming for Arsenal.

The Gunners hold the record for the number of goals scored by a Premier League club’s French players in a season.

french playersNewcastle’s French players are currently on a collective 29 goals from 22 matches but need another 25 goals in the remaining 16 matches to beat the Arsenal record of 53 in the 2002/03 season.

They may not quite manage that total but they have five other Arsenal seasons to aim at on the way, with Arsenal’s total of 35 goals in 2000/01 the next milestone to beat.

For the record, Newcastle’s French players have scored as follows; Remy 11, Cabaye 7, Gouffran 6, Ben Arfa 3, Sissoko 1, Debuchy 1 (the only other goals are those by Dummett, Cisse and an own goal).
