‘Newcastle Must Pay Gareth Bale Size Fee To Land Remy Cabella This Month’ – Nicollin

According to Montpellier President, Louis Nicollin, no Remy Cabella transfer will take place this month unless Newcastle offer Gareth Bale type money.

You may have realised by now that Nicollin quite likes the sound of his own voice and is notorious in France as a ‘character’.

He made his money in the rubbish business, collecting it rather than talking it…

To his credit he took over Montpellier in 1974 when they were an amateur team and within eight years had got them into Ligue 1.

This is what Nicollin has had to say now (amongst other stuff) about a Remy Cabella transfer (not happening);

“There is nothing at all (Remy Cabella transfer in January) and there won’t be anything done.

“I do not want to pay huge amounts of tax this year because the budget ends on June 30 – I prefer that it is from July 1.

“If there are good offers then that will allow us to have a good season next year, especially if we are in the top division – but there is no question at all of him leaving now, I have heard a lot of old rubbish.

“I think Newcastle are interested (in Cabella) because they are undoubtedly going to say yes to Paris Saint-Germain for the cash – but we are not stupid enough to give those English Cabella for Cabaye.

“Remy is a boy that I love and who deserves better than Newcastle.

If they want to make an offer in the summer there will be no problem….to let him go this winter, they must pay us what Real Madrid paid for Gareth Bale.”

Sifting through the ‘rubbish’ it would appear that Nicollin clearly wouldn’t see Montpellier spending any potential Cabella fee in this transfer window and so would be clobbered for tax before having a chance to spend it, if it happens this month.

Which then leads to his Gareth Bale remarks and of course the various reports saying that an agreement may have been reached whereby a move would happen in the summer rather than now.
