It is reported that Newcastle United had a scouting presence to watch Anthony Knockaert on Friday night.
The French winger is a major factor in Leicester’s current four point lead at the top of the Championship and starred yet again as the Foxes overwhelmed Derby County 4-1, not do his reputation any harm to any watching scouts, whether from Newcastle or wherever.
While Newcastle have many players who work hard in midfield, we are desperately short of anybody capable of taking his man on, with the exception of when Ben Arfa occasionally gets a game.
The Leicester winger has two French under 21 caps and has scored a respectable 12 goals from the wing in 67 league appearances since joining Leicester from Ligue 2 club Guingamp for £900,000 eighteen months ago.
As with all transfer speculation it is a case of waiting for any hard evidence and the fact this has been reported as an exclusive by Mike Ashley’s SD News doesn’t add any credibility.
