Montpellier President Believes Remy Cabella Newcastle Offer Is Imminent

The Montpellier President, Laurent Nicollin, has said he is expecting a Remy Cabella Newcastle bid very shortly.

The 23 year old midfielder/winger had been linked with Newcastle in recent days and last night was named by Sky Sports very likely to be one of up to four new signings in January for Newcastle United.

In an interview today, the Montpellier President has told French website Midi Libre

“Manchester (United) have not made any offer.

“As for Newcastle, it appears that they are about to make one and I expect confirmation. The idea is that Remy is still with Montpellier until June.”

The French club are currently fighting relegation and are fourth bottom, with financial problems mounting the news from France is that Montpellier desperately need to cash in on their prize asset.

Suggesting that the French club could retain Cabella until June as any part of a deal with Newcastle would appear to be grandstanding for the benefit of Montpellier’s fans to sweeten any sale.

With Newcastle desperate for flair and goals, Cabella fits the bill on both as he is top scorer at Montpellier despite playing in midfield, if a deal is done then I think it is guaranteed Ashley/Pardew will insist he arrives straight away.

Cabell played in the French Cup yesterday as Rudez were beaten 2-0, once the second goal went in after 65 minutes they took Cabella off.
