Longer Term Yohan Cabaye Injury Could Be Newcastle’s Achilles Heel
Worrying news today as Alan Pardew has revealed that the Yohan Cabaye injury could be worse than initially reported.
At his press conference before Cardiff, the Newcastle boss had revealed that ‘Cabaye picked up an injury on Wednesday and I would have liked to sub him but I didn’t have any left’.
However, this morning Alan Pardew has indicated that the injury may be more serious;
“It is his Achilles, an injury that is in an area where you can’t afford to mess around.
“I have got to really see how he is going to improve before Manchester City as that is a delicate area.”
Past experience tells us that often injuries that are reported as minor at Newcastle have a nasty habit of turning out to be longer lasting, as we’ve seen with Cabaye himself in the past.
The idea of having to manage any length of time without him is a worrying thought with a real absence of creativity in the team unless Alan Pardew selects Hatem Ben Arfa and he turns it on.
