With no guarantee for Steven Taylor of a place in Newcastle’s first team, even with Fabricio Coloccini injured, there have been rumours of a possible move elsewhere, with QPR previously mentioned.

Now however, there have been speculation in the Potteries that Mark Hughes may be interested in taking Taylor to Stoke.

steven taylorInteresting to see that the local Potteries press is treating the news with less than total positivity, with the ‘Sentinel’ reporting;

‘Now we’re being asked to believe Mark Hughes has taken a fancy to Newcastle United centre-half Steven Taylor.

Perhaps a frustrated Hughes has seen so much diving against his team in recent times that he now fancies a decent actor in his own line-up

Taylor you might recall was the last man on the line (v Villa) when he handled a goalbound shot and then careered backwards clutching his chest. No self-respecting centre-half, particularly a good old fashioned British exponent of the art like Taylor, would recoil in such pain.

It would take a braver man than that B movie actor from Newcastle to swan into the Britannia Stadium with a claim on Robert Huth’s place in the team.’
