Reports today in France say that Newcastle have turned down an attempt to take Massadio Haidara back to Ligue 1.

According to the reports, Alan Pardew has blocked an attempt by Marseille to take the left-back on a loan deal in January.

The website Europe Mercato carried the story and this is what they had to say;

‘The OM try their luck and go after Massadio Haidara  during the January transfer window

Looking for a left side to support Benjamin Mendy and Jérémy Morel, the Olympique de Marseille have inquired as to the possibility of a loan term from Newcastle United for Massadio Haïdara.

As was the case for FC Nantes this summer.

However , Alan Pardew , the Newcastle manager, has refused to part with his defender purchased for 3.5 million euros from Nancy in 2012 and made famous last year  at Wigan following the challenge he suffered from Callum McManaman and a lengthy recovery for a knee injury.’

After bad luck with injuries, Haidara is one squad player most fans are definitely interested in seeing more of and it would be a surprise if Alan Pardew lets one of his best young players go anywhere at the minute.
