Ex-Smoggie Spoils Adam Campbell’s Stunning Debut

A stunning Adam Campbell goal on his debut for St.Mirren put the Scottish Premier League club deservedly ahead away at Kilmarnock this afternoon.

The Geordie striker who turned 19 yesterday scored in the 18th minute when he turned sharply to lose a defender an excellent twenty yard drive onto the bottom corner.

Campbell went close on several other occasions while fellow on-loan player Conor Newton also saw an effort saved.

Rory McKenzie equalised for the home side in the first half and then despite Campbell’s best efforts to take advantage of St.Mirren’s superiority, it looked as though they would have to settle for a point.

It wasn’t to be though as deep in injury time ex-Smoggie and Rangers striker Kris Boyd scored the winner to spoil Adam Campbell’s debut in the league over the border, though no doubt he’ll always remember his first goal in senior football.
