Derek Llambias Linked With Return To Premier League As A Managing Director

Earlier today we reported on a story dreamt up by the Mirror regarding ‘[intlink id=”38659″ type=”post”]Pardew To West Ham[/intlink]’ and now there appears to be competition with a possible Derek Llambias return to Premier League club management.

Surprisingly the story is carried by the Telegraph and is linking Derek Llamabias with the now vacant Chairman/Managing Director’s job at Southampton.

The Telegraph claim that Derek Llambias ‘would be willing to speak to Southampton owner Katharina Liebherr’ but it would seem a massive leap of faith to believe this tale has got a chance of turning into reality.

I know the Saints are a bit unorthodox themselves at times with their behaviour but the job Derek Llambias did at Newcastle under Ashley appeared to be very different from the conventional role of a typical Premier League club’s managing director.

The newspaper’s story points out the attractiveness of the value for money transfer deals in France that were carried out under Llambias – but surely that is all a bit irrelevant if you don’t have a Graham Carr who will identify and line up these players.
