Alan Pardew was adamant after the Norwich match that Newcastle United weren’t about ‘just one player’ and he was adamant that plans are in hand to land Newcastle transfer targets.
Newcastle fans are now a bit wise to the fighting talk we hear every transfer window and we’ll believe it when we see them (new signings).
This is what the manager had to say about Cabaye, then getting ‘on the phone’ and ‘chasing’ targets down;
“It is a dream move for him in a lot of ways and we were honourable to him.
“He goes on but for us it is about Newcastle United and we need to find a replacement for him, or maybe two.
“Because that is what we did with the Andy Carroll money, we used it to go and get one or two players which took us forward, Yohan being one of them.
“So we need to use that money very wisely.”
“I have been on the phone to the powers that be and said ‘Let’s get moving and see what we can get’. We’ve one or two targets which we’d earmarked if Yohan went, we are now chasing them down.”
Let’s just hope that he was on the phone to the right people and more importantly…they were listening.
