So, another year we have to wait until we have a chance at winning a trophy…are the Alan Pardew tactics working?
This season has been up and down, not amazing but not bad.
One of the major problems we do have, is that we are so inconsistent.
It also often seems to be a game of two halves; Tottenham, Chelsea, Norwich, Sunderland, West Brom, Swansea all prime examples.
Against Cardiff, we played football from 45-68mins, that’s it. Cardiff deserved it and there’s another thing – Pardew can’t seem to fire the players up for derbies and games where the opponents have a new manager, so THEIR players are fired up.
Four times in a row we’ve gone out of the FA cup under Pardew, to sides that we should be beating, under Pardew. We’ve won once, drawn three times and lost twice against Sunderland.
Here are a few other major problems that have come from Pardew:
He’s very reactive, not proactive. Mourinho is an example of a proactive manager, against Southampton he realized his system wasn’t working when it was still 0-0, what did he do? He brought on 3 players, who massively changed the game for them. Pardew however, is reactive in the way he’ll only make a change if we concede. He goes into panic mode and throws on Ameobi as his ‘Plan B’.
Ameobi is not a plan B. We haven’t got a plan B.
We don’t have a philosophy, one week we’ll be playing some good fluid football, the next week we’ll be constantly hoofing it into the box. We want to see attacking, fluid football – on a regular basis.
Pardew is too defensive minded. Roberto Martinez is what you call an attack minded manager, he’s developed a mouthwatering, attractive football philosophy that we can only dream of at the moment. He takes the game to the opponents, no matter who they are; Everton at times outplayed Arsenal in their 1-1 draw earlier this season at the Emirates. Martinez has got Everton to 3 games where they’ve scored four goals this season – Stoke, Fulham and QPR. Pardew has achieved that once this season and Stoke had two men sent off, before that they outplayed us.
I’m not calling for PARDEW OUT, or joining the “Pardew out brigade”, I just want him to change, to change so he develops an entertaining philosophy, so we attack teams, so we could actually win a trophy.
But just maybe when we had the chance, we should of sacked Pardew and got Roberto Martinez who has Everton as real Champions League contenders…
