The Alan Pardew West Brom viewpoint was that a mixture of tiredness and injuries had combined against his team.
On the other hand, the Newcastle boss admitted that they’d been gifted the bulk of possession and the question is why United didn’t do more with it, especially in the first half.
“West Brom sort of let us have possession today and we had a lot of it and we controlled the game to a degree.
“A few breakaways they had but other than that I felt confident that we would win the game…but the sending off did change it of course.
“Unfortunately, I think it was a red (Debuchy) and then it was uphill and after the amount of games we got tired and we had injuries as well; we had to keep shuffling our team and in the end something give.”
West Brom I felt were a team there for the taking and it has to be a worry that Newcastle failed to trouble the home game despite getting the lion’s share of possession.
If tiredness was an issue then surely the manager should have utilised the strong strong that he claims to have and freshened his team up with new faces.
A bad day all round.
