31 Years To The Day! – Trelford Mills Video Special

It takes some believing but today was exactly 31 years to the day since the infamous Newcastle v Brighton cup-tie that for anybody at the match, was surely the biggest set of injustices ever seen in one match.

It is always referred to as the Trelford Mills match and there is never a truer word than the fact that the referees names who register are those who are notorious for all the wrong reasons.

If you thought the Cheick Tiote decision was bad today, just ask anybody who was at St.James’ Park thirty one years ago on 12 January 1983.

Mike Jones may have his name raised in anger any number of times tonight and tomorrow when you are back at work, but on 12 January 2045 (how mad does that sound?!!) will we all (who are left!) be referring to ‘That Mike Jones’ and spit in disgust?

The real contentious bits are; 1st disallowed goal 1.35 – 2nd disallowed goal 2.40 – penalty appeal 3.10 – reception at final whistle 4.45
