Sunderland Officially 93rd Worst (Out Of 94) Club Of 2013
The Sunderland 2013 record is something that can’t avoid comment.
As fans we all look at what happens from season to season and what happens in each individual one.
However, what if you look at the calendar year of 2013 and the complete results, what does it tell us about the various clubs, especially Newcastle and also our nearest and dearest down the road?
Well, you might not get relegated, or promoted, or win a title, in a calendar year but it does often give a very good idea of overall trends and where you are likely to be heading…
As you can see, the mackems have put in an incredible effort to be the 93rd worst club out of 94 in England with an average of only 0.84 points per match in 2013. What this strongly suggests is that they are heading only one way, I pity Stevenage having to manfully keep them off the very bottom!
On the other hand, Newcastle United have played 37 matches in the whole of 2013 and have averaged 1.46 points per match, this puts them eighth top of those 17 clubs who have spent all of 2013 in the Premier League. Interestingly, the eight clubs (including Newcastle) who make up the top eight in terms of points in 2013 are also the eight clubs that make up the current Premier League top 8, albeit in a slightly different order, though fans of Arsenal will be especially interested to see that they are also top of the 2013 total points table.
