Shirt Sponsors Turned Inside Out
The latest shirt sponsors deal has seen a deal agreed for £15m whereby the sponsor logo will only be visible on the inside of the shirt!
In modern football where everything is for sale, Barcelona have scooped the extra sponsorship from chipmaker Intel.
The deal was concluded last week and Intelk will also be providing technology to players and coaching staff.
As part of the deal it is not mandatory for all players to wear this extra logo inside their shirts so the likes of Messi and Iniesta may not even help the company’s branding.
The Chief marketing executive at Intel, Deborah Conrad, said;
“We didn’t want to put players under any obligation to show the logo a specific number of times but we know such goal celebrations are a big part of the sport’s culture.”
Hopefully this doesn’t catch on over here and especially at Newcastle United, with the club ordering players to hoist their shirts up like performing monkeys and reveal some horrendous new…or current ‘sponsor’.
