Premier League Form Table Tells No Lies

The Premier League form table makes pleasant reading once again and Alan Pardew has a chance, even if remote, of making it two in a row when it comes to manager of the month awards.

Alan Pardew currently stands only second to Manuel Pellegrini in terms of results over the last six games, which includes the final match of November when we beat West Brom.

Here are the top eight in terms of points gained out of the last eighteen;

16 Manchester City
13 Newcastle
13 Chelsea
13 Everton
12 Liverpool
11 Arsenal
11 Spurs
10 Manchester Utd

Interesting to see that this top eight is also the top 8 in the Premier League, though in a slightly different order. It maybe though reinforces the fact that this is the time of year when those clubs who invariably fill the top places, really click into gear and start to dominate.

Many a time Newcastle have had dismal results around the festive period and I was surprised to be reminded the other day that even two years ago when Newcastle finished fifth, the team even then had a disastrous December, picking up only 4 points out of 18 with four defeats.

As for the manager of the month December award, the best Alan Pardew can do is match Pellegrini’s 13 points IF Newcastle beat Arsenal and Man City get beat at home by Palace & Liverpool (currently 12 points form 5 December matches) fail to win at Chelsea.

More important of course is simply Newcastle beating Arsenal, nothing else matters.
