Pardew Hints At Newcastle To Sell Cisse
With Southampton up next and the January window fast approaching, Alan Pardew appears to have started rumours of a readiness for Newcastle to sell Cisse.
The striker had poor early season form in front of goal and has been frozen out due to United’s recent form and Shola’s contribution, even though Ameobi has failed to score a single goal so far this campaign.
“I would suggest they (clubs interested in signing Cisse) have a look at Mike Ashley’s record of selling players, they would have to spend a lot of money.
“He has trained well and looks sharp and ready, I genuinely think that he will be playing games in the busy period coming up.
“If he wants to be a regular like Remy then he has to take the chance when it comes.
“He isn’t ecstatic now as all footballers want to play and I’ve not got a problem with that – but he’s certainly not sulked about the situation.
“He is getting on with his job but it isn’t easy as he’s been a regular throughout his career, including in the past for us – but he has trained well and is looking sharp.”
What would represent ‘a lot of money’ for Papiss Cisse at this moment in time?
With Cisse being the only permanently contracted player at United with a record of scoring goals (21 in 54 starts) in the Premier League, I think it would be a massive risk to even consider selling the Senegal striker at this moment in time.
However, as one of Newcastle’s biggest earners sitting idle, I can’t imagine Ashley is too impressed at no return from him for his wages this season and I believe there is every chance he could be tempted to sell. Fingers crossed we have somebody already bought in if he does.
