Pardew ‘It Was A Bit Panto Season’

Panto season at Newcastle was in full flow today as the final stages saw a couple of slapstick moments.

Moussa Sissoko accidentally caught referee Mike Jones with a blow that bloodied the referee’s nose, while the two benches also kicked off big style as tempers frayed.

This was what Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew had to say about it all;

“It was a bit panto season towards the end and it was amusing really, the ref’s taken it in good heart, it was an accident. He got a bloody nose and he’ll have to tidy himself up for his Christmas party.

“It was a little bit of frustration and the benches came together but the managers got it in order quite quickly. It happens sometimes, you don;t want to see it but it was more silly rather than anything else.”

For me it was one of those games where you start off a bit indifferent about the opposition but once they were getting a bit annoying in the final stages then it cranked up the atmosphere.

No doubt these sideshows will have bumped up the interest for Match of The Day!
