Newcastle United Kids Make Progress
The Newcastle United kids made it into the Northumberland Senior Cup semi-finals on Wednesday night.
The competition is an opportunity for Newcastle’s youngsters (NUFC Reserves/Under 21s) to play matches against local non-league sides, with a more physical challenge against older more experienced players.
North Shields are flying high this season and made it 95 goals in all competitions this season when they took a shock early lead through Kieran Wrightson, the Shields player lifting the ball over Jonathan Mitchell to put the home side one up.
A crowd of over 700 watched as United hit back with goals from Adam Campbell and Macauley Gillesphey (assist from Campbell) to reach half-time 2-1 up.
The second half saw a spirited North Shields try to get back into the match but it was North Shields lad Adam Campbell who finished things off with a great shot from distance for his second goal and a 3-1 final scoreline.
