Newcastle Team v Swansea – Fans’ Starting Line-Up

We asked you the fans to pick the eleven players you would choose for the Newcastle team v Swansea tonight.

As well as publishing the results of who you think should play against Swansea, we have also put in brackets what percentage of votes each player got before the West Brom match.

Some stand-out feedback once again.

The top nine once again have at least nine out of ten fans picking them for the team, telling us two things – we’re being lucky with injuries and the players are doing well.

Debuchy had 100% backing to come back from suspension against West Brom and after another quality performance against the Baggies, the full-back retains fill support – as does Tim Krul.

Williamson’s star continues to soar, coming third in your approval ratings – quite amazing.

The most contested place in the team still appears to be centre-back, Mapou outscored Coloccini before the West Brom match but after a great return performance the fans have acknowledged what he gives to the team and now favour him slightly to retain his place ahead of Mapou.

The other contested place is to partner/support Remy up front with Shola’s share falling while Cisse and in particular Ben Arfa head the other way. This will at least in part be due to what many fans see as the reality of Shola being very unlikely to be able to play three matches in a week, plus maybe the thought that Swansea away could be the ideal type of match to bring Ben Arfa back in.

The three matches in a week factor has no doubt also chopped a few votes off the top players and added to those at the bottom of the food chain, supporters anticipating more reason to freshen things up, especially with a tough game at Old Trafford on Saturday.
