The French element at St.James’ Park attracts plenty headlines, plus you have Senegal, Holland, Argentina and Italy amongst the other nationalities represented.

The good people at the Football Observatory research website have looked at the number of expatriates playing for every club throughout the main leagues of Europe.

They have produced an average of how many expatriate players have been used each league match so far this season.

The Premier League figures are as follows;

9.8          Newcastle
9.4          Man City
8.7          Arsenal
8.1          Stoke
7.9          Chelsea
7.7          Fulham
7.1          Spurs
7.0          Everton
6.9          Aston Villa
6.9          Sunderland
6.8          West Brom
6.8          Swansea
