Newcastle Injury Update

The latest Newcastle injury update suggests better news for Alan Pardew ahead of Saturday’s test at Old Trafford.

Neither Papiss Cisse or Hatem Ben Arfa were likely to have played at Swansea on Wednesday night but their absence meant any attacking alternatives were thin on the ground.

The positive news is that both have trained today and should be available to Alan Pardew tomorrow.

Realistically, with Cisse having been carrying a heel injury you would expect it to be a longshot for him to be considered from the start but Hatem Ben Arfa may be a different proposition.

The Frenchman was reported to be suffering from a virus but Alan Pardew always appeared confident that he would be in his squad to face Manchester United.

With the odds against Shola capable of starting his third match in a week, it may be the time for Hatem Ben Arfa to  be given his head again.
