‘Half The World Will Be Watching’ – Alan Pardew Press Conference
At the Alan Pardew press conference ahead of the trip to Old Trafford, the Newcastle manager has said that he believes it will be a highly pressurised occasion but one that isn’t necessarily beyond his players.
With the power of the Premier League meaning ‘Half the world will be watching’ according to Pardew, no better time then for Newcastle to get their first win since 1972.
“I think they (Newcastle players) are very aware that every match is up for grabs this year. I think there will be a reaction from Man U to their defeat and likewise from us. So it will make for a game that is quite pressurised and therefore need to have calm heads and hopefully retain the ball better than at Swansea.
“I think there is a bit of pressure on them and I think we need to try and capitalise on that and make it difficult for them. I we can do that and get in the last period of the game, we could try and reverse a stat that isn’t very good of Newcastle winning at Man Utd.
“With the way the Premier League is, half the world will be watching. The most important thing is that the team functions well and really & truly, in the last five games just that one half at Swansea is the only time we have let ourselves down.
“We have to raise our game to a whole new level but we are capable of that.”
