‘We Certainly Missed Cabaye’s Quality’ – Pardew
If you had any doubt of how Newcastle United miss Yohan Cabaye then you saw it today against Southampton.
While I don’t think anybody had a bad game, until Hatem Ben Arfa came on, Newcastle struggled to get on top in the creativity stakes.
This is how Alan Pardew saw the game unfold and the importance Yohan Cabaye has for his team;
“Southampton have a great defensive record and we have had two massive opportunities with Loic. I thought he played well today but those two you’d expect him to score and at this level it would have made the difference.
“The rest of the game; we had periods, they had periods, two good teams. Adam Lallana had an impact on the game but then so did Hatem. He could have win it for us at the end, he had a few nice moments.
“I though he (Anita) played well but we certainly missed Cabaye’s quality and that pass to unlock the door – the composure in a game like this. Them players are gold dust and fortunately for us he is back next week.”
