Alan Pardew ‘Without Finance You’re In Trouble’

8 years ago

Alan Pardew was asked whether he was worried about qualifying for the competition and has again attacked the Europa League schedule.

The Newcastle manager again commented at length about the demands of the Thursday to Sunday matches scenario.

This is what the Newcastle manager had to say;

“We are going to have a look at that later in the season, if we are close to it.

“If you haven’t got the finance to have a squad big enough to compete in that competition, then you are in trouble.

“Stoke had it 3 or 4 years ago, we’ve had it and now Swansea have – bless them.

“The Thursday to Sunday routine, it is too much, it is too demanding.

“I keep going on about it but it is something that needs to be looked at.”

While I have some sympathy with what Alan Pardew had to say, I think Newcastle should be financially capable of carrying a better squad than both Swansea and Stoke.

If Newcastle had brought in the 2 or 3 players the squad was desperate for then I think the problems caused by being in the Europa League would have been massively diminished.
