Alan Pardew ‘With Joe’s Knowledge Of Football…’
Alan Pardew has reassured fans that when it comes to Newcastle January transfer targets, the management team (Carr, Kinnear, Pardew & Ashley) are ‘on the ball’.
The Newcastle manager also referred to JFK’s ‘knowledge of football’ as a big help.

“Graham Carr and Joe and myself & the owner are very much on the ball with the January window approaching. We sit down and we discuss, making sure that we make the right decision for the club.
“We have not talked too much about the finances available – we have talked about the players and where we are at.
“We are making sure we do not miss what could be a key signing – if you look at the two January windows we have done good business. We took Papiss (Cisse) 2 years ago which pushed the team on and then last year in an emergency we took 4 or 5 which we did not really want to do but they have still worked out well.
“The finance of course comes out but also a selection of what I need, with Joe’s knowledge of football he knows that the manager needs certain things and that has helped.
“I don’t want to really say much more on that but I think that is a little insight for you.”
I always get a sinking feeling when Alan Pardew starts talking about transfers and now specifically, the Newcastle January transfer targets.
It isn’t that I think he is clueless at judging players, just that he doesn’t appear to have a great deal of say in the process.
Obviously we aren’t privy to conversations that go on within the club but what we do have are numerous quotes from Alan Pardew in the past where he has regularly contradicted himself; whether talking about definitely making signings (2 summers ago when he stated as fact he was bringing in a dominant centre-back and other players) and then afterwards claiming it was a good thing we didn’t sign anybody as it gave the kids a chance(!), or when this summer he said we definitely needed at least one or two in (on top of Remy) and then allowed his name to be put to a club statement saying how well the summer transfer window had gone…
My assumption, like most of you, is that when it comes to players and what Newcastle need – if he listens to anybody then sadly Mike Ashley will take a lot more notice of Joe Kinnear than Alan Pardew.
