Tiote On The ‘Fight’ To Be Captain

7 years ago

As and when Fabricio Coloccini returns to the team, the battle for the captain’s armband appears to be going to be a bloodless encounter as stand-in Cheick Tiote has said;

“If Colo is fit and comes back then he will be captain.”

Personally I wouldn’t mind seeing Cheick keep the armband but it is very hard to see Alan Pardew not returning the armband to his centre-back.

When speaking to The Sun, Tiote also gave us an insight into how he sees the performances of both Tim Krul and the Newcastle manager.

On Krul: “We just said thank you, he was the best player on the pitch and just hope he continues as Tim’s one of the best in the Premier League, if he continues he’ll be one of the very top goalkeepers.”

On Pardew; “We’ve a very good manager who is open and talks about everything with his players. He also trusts as and so in tough games like Chelsea and Tottenham he tells us to believe in ourselves. Without confidence it is difficult to win.”
