Shola Packs His Bags For Brazil

Newcastle will have at least one representative in Brazil for the finals of the 2014 World Cup, if selected of course.

Shola Ameobi’s Nigeria today beat Ethiopia 2-0 in the home leg of their play-off decider.

The two goal win gave them an overall comfortable 4-1 aggregate win that ensured their presence at the finals.

Shola neither made it onto the pitch or the subs bench but will still have strong hopes that he can be included in the squad having become a regular fixture in recent games.

The Newcastle striker will be hoping for some pitch time on Monday night as Nigeria ‘host’ Italy in a friendly at Fulham’s Craven Cottage.

Papiss Cisse will be hoping for better luck tonight when Senegal attempt to overturn a 3-1 deficit against Cheick Tiote’s Ivory Coast, the Newcastle midfielder missing the second leg through suspension.
