Reported Newcastle Interest In Danish International Appears Unlikely

I suppose you can never say never but Newcastle are now being linked with a thirty year old Danish midfielder who has started less than fifty league matches in the last six seasons.

The player in question is Leon Andreasen who currently plays in the Bundesliga for Hannover.

The 6ft 2 midfielder joined Fulham from Werder Bremen in 2007 but the move didn’t work out and after playing just a handful of matches, Andreasen made his way back to Germany and signed for Hannover.

Reports claim that Newcastle are one of several English clubs interested as the German club have indicated they won’t be offering another contract when the current one runs out at the end of this season.

In his favour, Andreasen has been a fixture in Hannover’s team this season and also been involved in Denmark’s recent World Cup qualifiers.

Though if he was a ‘bargain’ it is still difficult to see Newcastle going for somebody who will be 31 before the end of the season.
