Pardew – ‘What Coloccini Said This Week Is No Big Deal’

This week saw more Coloccini Argentina return ‘quotes’ this week but Alan Pardew was keen to brush them aside aside as he prepares his team to face West Brom.

The Newcastle manager preferred to speak of the qualities of his Captain, rather than dissect what the centre-back did or didn’t say to papers back home.

With the seemingly penniless San Lorenzo still wanting a Coloccini Argentina return, Pardew looks at both Colo and Cabaye as key figures if Newcastle are to compete towards the top end;

“With Fabricio Coloccini, the pangs of home were pulling at him season, what he said this week is no big deal. All we want is to keep him playing well here at Newcastle United.

“Both (Coloccini and Cabaye) have been outstanding for this football club and we need outstanding players here if we are to make an impact towards the top of the Premier League.”

While only the player really knows what he said or didn’t say, there will be fans who see an irony in the wholesale banning of the local press over one disagreement, while continuously players seem to have free rein on interviews when away from Tyneside.

An undoubted unsettling affect on the team and fans, with no constraints seemingly imposed by those in charge at St.James’ Park, very odd.
