Offside Papiss Cisse Goal Curse – Action Replay

If ever a striker could do with a change of luck it is Newcastle United’s number nine, a United number 9 scoring goals is a fundamental for a successful NUFC.

However, the Papiss Cisse goal curse shows no signs of abating as despite only being given the last 16 minutes against Norwich, the Newcastle number nine still had time for last year’s regular scenario to make a reappearance.

Norwich had pulled a goal back and life was no longer comfortable for United but then the opportunity presents itself for a Papiss Cisse goal to win the game and dissolve the nerves, not quite making Cisse the NUFC goal supremo once again but certainly bringing him a big step forward on a potential rehabilitation.

Sissoko running through the middle, Cisse waiting for the ball to be released. Sissoko releases it, Cisse scores, offside flag!

Around me in the Leazes end there was much laughter and not a little bit of anger, yet again Cisse caught offside and potentially putting United at risk of not winning the match. ‘Typical Cisse’, ‘bloody rubbish’, ‘get rid’ etc etc.

Of course then you watch Match Of The Day and Cisse wasn”t offside…doh!

The Papiss Cisse goal curse continues and this time it wasn’t his fault, he actually held his run and went at exactly the right moment, then finished into the bottom corner.

While last year wasn’t great for Cisse he wasn’t anywhere near as bad as some people wanted to make out and as well as scoring vital late winners that helped United survive in the Premier League, there was a ridiculous number of goals that should have counted but like the one against Norwich were similarly wrongly ruled offside.

I’m loving the fact Remy is scoring for fun but I wish it was Cisse, an on loan player (who turned us down previously for an all but already relegated club) or the wearer of the legendary number 9 shirt?

No contest.
