Alan Pardew ‘We Could Pick Two Sides’

7 years ago

When speaking in advance of Saturday’s match with West Brom, Alan Pardew was keen to point out the strength of his Newcastle United squad.

The Newcastle manager reckons that the collection of players he has available now is the strongest it has ever been under him and that he could comfortably pick two separate teams for his Newcastle United squad.

This is what Alan Pardew said when interviewed on Radio Newcastle;

“Me and John (Carver) walked off the training ground on Tuesday and said that it was probably the best day’s training we’ve ever had here, certainly since I have been here.

“In terms of quality and numbers, we could pick two sides.

“When you go back 12 months when we had injuries and the Europa League campaign, we struggled to pick eleven.”

So what do you think?

Are the Newcastle United squad now capable of fielding two separate teams in the Premier League?

There is every chance that Newcastle will line up as follows against West Brom;

Krul, Debuchy, Mapou, Williamson, Santon, Sissoko, Tiote, Cabaye, Gouffran, Shola, Remy

I would then guess a second eleven would/could be (based on Pardew picking lieks of Obertan and Sammy Ameobi on bench);

Elliot,, Coloccini, Steven Taylor, Dummett, Haidara, Anita, Obertan, Sammy Ameobi, Ben Arfa, Jonas, Cisse,

When you see names likes Taylor, Coloccini, Ben Arfa and Cisse, it does at least on the surface give a second eleven a healthy look.

However, throughout that second eleven there are players  still with a lot to prove as to why they should be in the team, at least on this season’s form.

What do you think?

Betting – NUFC to win by exactly 2 goals 11/2 – Remy first goal AND NUFC win 40/1 – Cabaye score a goal 19/5
