Newcastle Put Price Tag On Tim Krul’s Head?
Following recent speculation on the future of goalkeeper Tim Krul, it is claimed Newcastle United are ready to raise their asking price to £20million in an effort to ward off reported increasing interest from Italian giants Juventus.
The Italian black and whites supposedly see Krul as a long-term replacement for stalwart custodian Gianluigi Buffon and have apparently been unperturbed by the Dutch ‘keeper’s recent signing of a contract to keep him at United until 2017.
Since becoming a regular at St James’ Park four seasons ago, Krul has made 97 Premier League appearances for the team; arguably his most memorable coming last time out against Tottenham Hotspur, when the 25 year-old put in a man-of-the-match, match-winning display, making the most saves ever recorded in a Premier League game since Opta Index started keeping track of such things back in 2006/2007.
This performance led to Krul winning praise from all sides, particularly his manager Alan Pardew who labelled the Magpies’ number one as one of the best goalkeeper in the Premier League.
