Loic Remy ‘I Feel Very Good Here At Newcastle But We Speak To Everybody In July’
A great win against Chelsea but it is also slightly bittersweet when your star goalscorer is only on hire.
After the final whistle against Chelsea, Newcastle’s top goalscorer had mixed messages for United fans.
“I heard about the fans before I came here, the atmosphere, though I did not really understand it until I felt it on the pitch. When you get a win like this, wow! I play to have these moments, it’s an amazing feeling.
“My record season is 16 at Marseille so if I can do better it would be great but my focus is also on the team – alone I can’t do anything.
“I feel very good here at Newcastle but we speak to everybody in July; it depends on QPR, it depends on Newcastle, it depends on me.”
I hate the idea that Newcastle could turn into a club that is used for ‘warming up’ players for other clubs in the Premier League, a bit like the mackems did one season when they had an unbelievable five players on loan, basically half their first team at times.
It would lay down a massive marker if Newcastle made a permanent signing of Remy in the January window. No matter what the player says, you don’t know what will happen until an offer is on the table and so all Newcastle can do is put the ball in his court.
However, sadly I find it impossible to imagine Mike Ashley paying the fee and wages that would equate to bringing Remy here long-term.
A bit of an irony that with each extra goal you feel it pushes further away any chance of Newcastle United signing up Remy.
