Pardew Watched Transfer Target In Champions League This Week

It has now been reported that Alan Pardew took in a Champions League match in the past week in order to watch a transfer target, Kostas Manolas.

The player the Newcastle manager was there to see is a centre-back for Greek side Olympiakos.

Only 22, Manolas is apparently being watched as a potential replacement for Coloccini if the Newcastle captain does get his move away from St.James’ Park.

The Chronicle report that Alan Pardew watched on as PSG beat Olympiakos narrowly 2-1, with Manolas doing his reputation no harm by also grabbing the consolation goal.

The centre-back already has three goals this season, including two now in the Champions League.

Despite his relative youth, Kostas Manolas already has over a hundred senior games behind him and also helped Greece qualify for the World Cup finals in Brazil earlier this month.

Predictably, other Premier League clubs are also said to be interested but could this at last be the commanding goal scoring centre-back we were promised two summers ago?
