January Ripe For Increase In Newcastle Loan Players
So where now? Looking into the future is it a case of increasing the number of Newcastle loan players?
A couple of weeks ago I wrote an article effectively asking why the Pardew bandwagon had appeared to have restarted. Now a lot of people questioned my view, which was of course completely fair.
I don’t have a vendetta against Pardew I just expect a lot from him to redeem himself. The excuses list may be getting smaller but I find it hard to relate to a man who continues his pursuit of trying to make us believe that Ashley loves us all and that Kinnear will get him the players he wants.
I digress though…
The opportunity is now there for Newcastle to really make something happen.
However, we all know that the club doesn’t want to make something happen. An interesting article in yesterday’s Mirror talked about how Ashley is desperate to avoid the moneyless Thursday night extravaganza that is the Europa league.
Right now Ashley should be stuck between a rock and a hard place. We all know he would probably take the easy route out, which is no investment and hope for the best. Or does he push Newcastle to the promise land of the real rich and famous in the Champions League?
On the plus side Ashley’s new favourite route for player recruitment, the loan market, should be red hot in January. Six months from a World Cup the top clubs’ fringe players will want to play, so for us a great opportunity to see an increase in the number of Newcastle loan players.
The great loaners of the premier league could be the best place to shop.
While the like of Mata and Luiz, both of whom will probably leave, are a class above our pay cheque, Chelsea may look to re-home the likes of De Bruyne and Ba. Again, both may be above us but if we are still playing well in January surely even Ashley and Kinnear could finance/sort a 5 month loan deal?
The sight of arguably Shola’s best performance outside of a derby, is enough to convince me we can still make something of this season. A win against West Brom and I may start believing a little bit more.
