I Just Want Newcastle To Win Something Before I Die

Today we welcome our cockney friends to St.James’ Park, can Newcastle arrest the slide/bounce back to form?

We’ve drawn on the experience of long time Mag columnist Malcolm Leitch, AKA Jinky Jim.

What did you think of the team selection for the Manchester City match?

Sadly predictable. I’m one of the old school who just want to win something before they die, even if our league position is affected, so I would like to have seen Remy and Cabaye start.

What did you make of the performance?

Decent for the majority of the game, by the majority of players , with the obvious exception being our number nine . I appreciate that you will not beat top teams with Shola as your centre forward but taking him off instead of Cisse was a bad mistake. After that I felt the game had 0-2 written all over it, because we just didn’t have anything up front to worry them.

Much debate about how committed United are towards the cups, do you think Ashley is relieved or gutted Newcastle aren’t travelling to Leicester for a place in the semi? Same Question for Alan Pardew?

I would be astounded if Ashley wouldn’t love the chance to strut his stuff around Wembley in front of the watching millions. He could even kit the team out in Sports Direct tracksuits for the occasions…but it seems he isn’t interested in ending our 59 year wait for a domestic trophy.

As for Pardew. What does it matter what he thinks. His opinions are not required by those who employ him.

What would be your team against Chelsea?

4-2-3-1  Krul, Debuchy, Williamson, Colo, Santon , Tiote, Anita, Cabaye, Ben Arfa, Goufron, Remy.

How do you see that match panning out?

On paper we should get beat but on paper we should have stuffed sunld. We need another ‘Liverpool’  performance but I am not convinced we will get it. Should they score first , especially early on , then I worry it could get messy. On the other hand should we score first, you never know. In other words , I haven’t got a clue.

Do you see a positive future for Newcastle fans while Ashley owns the club?

I will give you two guesses.

Alan Pardew wants Papiss Cisse to do a ‘Torres’, can you see him bouncing back to form and what reasons would you give for his fall from grace?

Cisse wanted to leave but it didn’t happen. So Cisse had a problem with the sponsorship but it still didn’t  get him a move out of the club. But it’s obvious to me that the guy doesn’t want to be here, he plays like he doesn’t want to be here and hopefully will be gone in January .

Is Alan Pardew part of the problem or part of the solution?

He isn’t part of the solution because if a new owner came in, Pardew would be replaced. But as long as Ashley runs the club then Pardew is as good as we are going to get. No one would want to come and replace him, unless they have been out of work for years

What do you think will happen in the January transfer window?

Depends on the results we have in the next couple of months. If we are mid-table then nothing, if we are bottom three , then panic buying will begin.

Where will Newcastle finish in the league?
