European Dream Over For Newcastle Youngster

Newcastle youngster Lubo Satka missed out on appearing at the Under 19 European Championships as his native Slovakia conceded late on and saw their hopes of qualification dashed.

After conceding a stoppage time equaliser in their previous game against Albania, Slovakia’s youngsters went into their match with Greece on Sunday knowing that a win would see them through to the next stage.

After going a goal down, they looked to have turned things around as they led 3-1 with 72 minutes played thanks to a second-half hat trick from Matu Bero.

However, Greece hit back with a goal from Anastasios Donis to make it 3-2 before Epaminondas Pantelakis struck in the last minute of normal time to send his team through and dump Slovakia out of the competition.

Centre-back Satka joined United from Dubnica in Slovakia and appeared for the Reserve squad which won the Citibank Hong Kong Football Club Soccer Sevens competition.
