Alan Pardew ‘No Financial Restrictions From Mike Ashley’
Alan Pardew has raised the subject of the Mike Ashley finances situation at Newcastle United again.
With Newcastle on the up it is often the way that in better times the club take the opportunity to remind us of the reality of present day Newcastle United.
This is what Alan Pardew had to say to the Shields Gazette;
“At the minute we are under no pressure for anyone to leave.
“We have no financial restrictions from Mike Ashley, we are in good shape.
“Sometimes you do lose a player, look at when Andy Carroll left. He was 22 and playing for England, a young player from the City but we have done brilliantly with the money.
“A brilliant sale for us and that money has been used to strengthen the group and to bring in quality players.
“We may need to do it again, we may have to do that to get where we want to go, we have to accept that.”
Exactly what ‘no financial restrictions’ actually means when we didn’t buy a single first team squad player in the summer…
Yes I love the fact we are playing some decent football at times and carrying the necessary luck in recent matches.
However, it is the same old problem underlying that – my reading of what Alan Pardew is saying is that in the January window it will be great if we keep our best players blah blah blah, rather than Ashley making money available to really build on these results and the fact we do have some decent players in the squad – but still vital a few more are added.
