Winner Announced In Worst Newcastle and Manchester United Transfer Rumour Category

No matter how long you watch football and follow all the nonsense away from the actual action on the pitch, it is always difficult not to read the daily nonsense that passes for football reporting these days.

Transfer rumours are of course the media’s bread and butter and the fact that there is still three months until anybody can move clubs, it doesn’t diminish their need to publish transfer tittle tattle every day.

For some reason, struggling Manchester United players going on loan to Newcastle has been a recent regular favourite, with first Wilfried Zaha and then Ashley Young, allegedly keen to follow Gabriel Obertan to Tyneside.

However, now it is bizarrely claimed that Manchester United are interested in taking one of Newcastle United’s struggling stars in January.

A bit like a vermin infestation it is difficult to trace back where this particular rubbish story first started but the story goes that David Moyes is going to take Cheick Tiote to Old Trafford for £6m…unless Arsene Wenger snaps him up first.

If you go back 16 months or so then the story would be just about plausible but sadly Cheick has shown next to nothing since then as to why he should be in Newcastle’s team, let alone one competing in the Champions League.

Tied up on a long contract and hopefully now playing his way back into a bit of form, there is no way either that Mike Ashley would sanction a sale for such a low amount, whether that is a fair valuation or not.
