Wages Halt Newcastle Interest In Player

Newcastle’s financial situation has seemingly ruled them out of the race to sign out of favour Manchester City defender Micah Richards.

England international Richards has struggled to nail down a regular place under Manuel Pellegrini at the Eastlands club and is seen as a potential transfer target by several Premier League clubs, the Magpies among them.

However, it is understood that having made contact with the defender, Newcastle have deemed his wage demands to be out of their price range and have pulled themselves out of the running to sign him.

It is still believed that City are unwilling to sell at this point, although if the right offer came along, they may think again with Arsenal, Tottenham and Chelsea all linked to the 25 year old and the promising Reece Wabara currently impressing on loan at Doncaster Rovers in line to cover first-choice right back Pablo Zabaleta.
