Supermac’s Three Legends Is No More

Love it…or hate it, the Three Legends radio show became an established part of the north east’s fan ‘culture’.

Supermac, Bernie Slaven and Eric Gates (followed by Mickey Horswill then Richard Ord) were on the airwaves for thirteen years before Real Radio dropped the show.

Star Radio of Darlington then picked up the show but a year on they have been forced to also cut transmission, with the show apparently not being able to pay for itself.

Via his own website, Bernire Slaven released the following;

“Sincere apologies to our ardent listeners over the last fourteen years…if we are being honest we’ve been fighting against the tide financially for over a year now.

Unfortunately, Star Radio has admitted and told us they simply cannot afford us or the show. We would like to thank everyone who’s listened and contributed over the years, you have made us the number one north east sports show.”
