Remy Interviewed in France & What The French Public Think Of Him

With France struggling for goals, Loic Remy has found himself fast tracked back into the national squad and looks a good bet to start later this weeks in the friendly against Australia.

At yesterday’s press conference, Loic Remy was questioned at length and had the following to say.

Thanks as always to our translator Pierre for this translation via L’equipe;

Loic Remy, how do you welcome your return to the French team?

“I am very happy, it’s real happiness. I wanted to return quickly. I hope this selection will be a continuation of what I am doing well. If I play and I have the opportunity to make an impression and to settle in this group, I am not taking it for granted.”

This is not the first time you return. Do you still feel it is a process of establishing yourself ?

“I have come to have consistency at international level, I have crossed this hurdle. After that, there are also things where I have stagnated. I have the World Cup in mind. I must make sure to stay in this group.

I have worked very hard to get back to my best level. I have found my qualities: shoot and penetrate … And it is also a question of confidence.”

Do you feel like you’re wasting your time?

“No, being here it’s another opportunity to win my place. I do not think that I am at a worse level than another.”

Last season was, however, difficult for you

“… I had a lot of muscle problems or other glitches. I had to take it on the chin. Today I have the opportunity to play in a great club where I can express myself fully. This can only benefit me.”

How do you explain your success now?

“I have worked very hard to get back to my best. Last winter, the coach already had spotted  me, even though I chose to go to QPR. He trusted me again this summer. I had an answer in return.”

Thursday during the announcement of his list, Didier Deschamps praised your versatility. Do you feel that there is a possibility of playing on the right?

“I had the chance to work with him for two years. He knows me, he knows I can play multiple positions. At Newcastle, I was repositioned on the left, but for that position there is Franck (Ribery) who is in great form.  I can adapt my game to play on the right or elsewhere. If there is a way to take a position, I’ll take it with pleasure. It is here for the taking.”

Comments On Forum From Football Fans In France:

The overall feeling is whether it should be Remy or Giroud up front and definitely drop Benzema. It is his best chance during those two matches as don’t rate Remy on the right.

Rémy on the left is good and he can score or make some good crosses. But on the right he is not very good and his crosses are awful! I am sceptical of him playing on the right and as for playing on the left he has no right to take the Kaiser’s place

As he clearly said he needs to be consistent and a regular player for France, after all he could be good for France and useful when times are hard.

It’s true to say that it is his best opportunity to show what he is made of. Sink or swim. An attack of Ribéry-Giroud-Rémy, it could be good. Avec Gameiro and Rivière as reserves just in case…

That’s it! 3 good games and you make the French team! it makes me laugh. Before you needed several good seasons, these days even 2 matches is enough because we (France) are so crap.

Loic Rémy has not earned his place yet he has just started the season well and better than last season … last season he was appalling! He scores 4 goals and get selected!! It’s ridiculous ditto with Sakho, I am a Parisian supporter since 1993 and I say that he too doesn’t deserve to be in the team.

Remy better with his head ? Technically he doesn’t know how to control the ball, shoot, he is rubbish and Giroud is a much better player.

Let’s play him up front, who knows.

This player has the same qualities/profile as Henry but I remain sceptical looking at his career development. He is capable but will he achieve?

Anything but Benzema!
