Pardew Thinks ‘Kicking’ Was Unfair
Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew believes Fabio Borini’s 84th minute winner for Sunderland in Sunday’s North-East derby, “kicked us when we were down.”
Speaking to the Hartlepool Mail, Pardew admitted to facing a challenge to fire his players up for Wednesday night’s League Cup game with Manchester City and Saturday’s Premier League clash with Chelsea.
“We have got to try and get a couple of wins quickly and turn this situation into a positive for us. It’s hard to take – a goal in the 84th minute when you’ve bossed the second half. We all need a lift after that.”
Having beaten Morecambe and Leeds United so far in this season’s League Cup, Pardew’s side must now attempt to overcome Manuel Pellegrini’s Manchester City if they are to make it into the quarter finals of the League Cup, before a tough Premier League fixture against Chelsea this Saturday lunch-time.
