Papiss Cisse ‘I’m Coming Close To Good Form…’
Papiss Cisse has vowed to rediscover his goalscoring touch…and soon.
The Senegalese striker has not scored a Premier League goal in his last 13 outings; his only Newcastle United goal of the season coming at home to Leeds United in the 2-0 Capital One Cup victory.
“I am sure it will come soon. I believe in myself and feel I’m coming close to good form.”
Before Cisse left for international duty, Newcastle manager Alan Pardew urged his out-of-form forward to find the net for Senegal and gain some confidence before the visit of Liverpool to St James’ Park upon the Premier League’s return to action.
If Cisse were to score for Senegal, it would go a long way to helping them secure a victory against the Ivory Coast which few are predicting. The Senegalese striker feels his side are being written off too quickly.
“We’re a good team and I am confident we can make the World Cup. That is a player’s dream.”
Like United manager Alain Giresse, Cisse’s national manager also believes in him.
“Papiss is a fantastic player; he’ll play a huge role in our two games.”
