Newcastle Warned Off Rising Championship Star
Leicester City manager Nigel Pearson has rubbished talk of a possible transfer to Newcastle for youngster Liam Moore.
The twenty year old is a versatile defender who can play both centre-half and right-back.
The Leicester youth team product has broken into the first team at the King Power Stadium this season and delivered a string of impressive displays, leading him to be linked with a move away from the club.
Manager Pearson, however, has issued a vehement hands-off warning to prospective buyers after Newcastle United and Manchester United were both credited with an interest in the youngster.
“He is a very important member of our squad and I have no intention of him leaving us.
“I suppose speculation is always going to coincide with someone being recognised and if there are links to a big club it shows he is moving in the right direction, but I don’t think anything like that is ever helpful in all honesty.”
Moore himself has also spoken out about his desire to remain at Leicester. “From my very first media interview I have said all I wanted to do was to play for Leicester City. Right now, I have that chance and it is all I’m concentrating on.”
