Newcastle Striker Has Six Appeal
Adam Armstrong has netted yet another brace for England’s Under 17s as they won their final game of their World Cup qualifying campaign 6-0.
The young Geordie had already scored twice against Armenia and Gibraltar respectively, then repeated the feat as England ran out easy winners against the Republic of Ireland.
After Chelsea’s Isaiah Brown gave his side the lead, Armstrong notched England’s second before the break, before grabbing the third just three minutes into the second half, pouncing on Ryan Ledson’s parried shot.
Brown then got his second of the game before Patrick Roberts got the Young Lions’ fifth. The rout was then completed by England captain Ledson from the penalty spot to give England a comfortable 6-0 lead and send them through to the World Cup, qualifying as group winners.
Hot-shot Armstrong has also scored five goals in seven appearances for Newcastle United in the Barclays Under 21 Premier League and was also included in the first-team squad that travelled to Morecambe for the second round of this season’s League Cup.
