Newcastle Star Offered Route Back To France By Old Club
There is always going to be a lot of focus in France on the Newcastle ‘experiment’, though maybe this interest will shortly recede with Alan Pardew declaring his intention to recruit British rather than foreign players.
Montpelier President, Louis Nicollin, has said he’d welcome his captain Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa back with open arms despite criticising the player’s decision to trust his agent’s advice.
Mapou helped Montpelier win a surprise league title and is still highly thought of.
Nicollin telling L’equipe;
“Don’t worry, he will come back to Montpelier. I am sorry for him and I love him a lot. He’s followed the advice of his agent and he was wrong to leave.”
While Mapou was left out after the nightmare at Everton, the player has made no public show of unhappiness at the club so we can only take his ex boss’ comments in isolation.
If Coloccini does miss out through injury it will be interesting to see if the French centre-back does get a vote of confidence ahead of the fit again Steven Taylor.
